We would love to add a fun, energetic and flexible-thinking team member to our growing pediatric clinic! This position pays for documentation time, cancellations and prep-time. We are looking for someone who works well with a team and others, as interpersonal skills with team members, families and the child are very important. We service the pediatric population, ages birth to 21.
As a COTA, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Implement Treatment Plans: COTAs assist in implementing treatment plans developed by OT, focusing on improving motor, cognitive, and emotional skills through therapeutic activities, sensory interventions and exercises.
- Document Patient Progress: COTAs maintain detailed records of patient progress, observations, and any changes in their condition/skill level.
- Provide Education: COTAs educate patients and their families on therapeutic techniques, home-based exercises, and the use of adaptive equipment as needed.
- Maintain Therapeutic Environments: COTAs ensure that therapy areas are safe, organized, and conducive to treatment.
- Communicate with Healthcare Teams: COTAs collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure patient needs are met.
- Adapt Treatment Plans: COTAs monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed under supervision of an OT.
Requirements:
- Associates/Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy
- Valid BCLS certification
- Valid state license to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of Maine
- Education in medical terminology and patient care techniques
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective patient service and collaboration
- Experience in pediatrics is preferred but not required
- Experience with the following diagnoses are preferred but not required: Autism, ADHD, developmental delay, down syndrome, sensory processing disorder, etc.
