Description

Belfast Area Children's Center is looking for a Teacher II to work with children ages 6 weeks through 5 years of age.

Primary Purpose of the position: Teacher II is responsible for cooperation in the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate programming in the childcare classrooms by offering direct childcare services, program cooordination and supervisory responsibilities.  Teacher II is expected to maintain a supportive, warm and open climate for learning and to maintain appropriate classroom structure and materials relavent to the children's developmental stages.

Primary Duties: 

  • Meet individual as well as group needs of the children.
  • Communicate with parents regarding their children's activities an programs, both informally an during formal parent teacher conferences that are scheduled for the fall and spring.
  • Write student reports covering information discussed in the parent conferences
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Center Director.

Secondary Duties:

  • Attend scheduled staff meetings, parent meetings and workdays.
  • Participate in teacher and program evaluations.
  • Participate in workshops, conferences, CPR, Health and Safety, child abuse and other relevant ECE training, in staff hiring, evaluations, policy making, and classroom and staff meetings.
  • Is resposible for basic work chores.
  • Arrive promptly.
  • Share in the cleaning and maintaining of equipment, materials and classroom space. 
  • Complete self evaluation and participate in evaluation annually.
  • Stay informed concerning issues and policies in the field of early childhood education through relevant reading, course work, workshops and communication with appropriate organizations and individuals.

Qualifications:

  • A.A in Early Childhood Education or related field or CDA is preferred.
  • Experience in ECE or related field is preferred,
  • Current CPR Certification or willing to obtain with 90 days of hiring date.
  • Willing to participate in up to 40 hours of ECE training per year.
  • Meet all other staff requirements as outlined in Rules for licensing of Day care centers for children including FBI fingerprinting, DHHS Child Protective Search, physical examination and immunization records as required.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
