RSU 29 seeks Pk-2 Building Principal, 2025-2026 School Year
Qualification: Master's degree in educational leadership or a related field. Valid Maine administrator certification. 3-5 years of expereince as a classroom teacher or school administrator, preferably at the elementary level.
Instructional Leadership:Oversee and improve the quality of instruction and student learning. Develop and implement a comprehensive instructional program aligned with state and district standards. Monitor student achievement data and use it to form instructional decisions. Support professional development for teachers to enhance their skills and knowledge
School Culture and Climate: Foster a positive and supportive school culture that promotes student well-being and engagement. Implement effective classroom management and discipline strategies, collaborate with staff, students, and families to address student needs and concerns.
School Operations: Manage the school budget and allocate resources effectively, oversee school facilities and ensure a safe and healthy learning environment. Supervise fairly and consistently effective discipline and attendance systems with high standards consistent with the school's philosophy, values, and mission. Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations and policies. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
Staff Leadership: Recruit, hire and evaluate staff. Provide professional development and support for staff. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Community Relations: Build strong relationships with parents and the community. Communicate effectively with parents and the community about school programs and initiatives. Involve parents and community members in school activities and decison making, make use of community resources.
Additional Considerations: Experience with Maine Learning Results and other state assessments. Knowledge of federal and state laws related to education, such as IDEA, Section 504, and Title IX. Ability to use data to inform decision making and improve outcomes. Strong commitment to equity and inclusion. Proficiency in computer software and technology.
Proper Maine DOE certification and background check required for all positions.
