School-Based Independent Counselor/Social Worker for K-12 Students
Position: School-Based Independent Counselor, Social Worker, or Clinical Psychologist
Location: Islesboro, ME.
Islesboro is an island of approximately 600 year-round residents. It is located 3 miles off the coast of Lincolnville, accessible by ferry.
Employment Type: Independent Contractor. Anticipated need is one day per week.
About Us: Through a collaborative partnership between the Islesboro Health Center and Islesboro Central School, we strive to make mental health services accessible to all island children.
Position Overview: We seek a compassionate and experienced Professional Counselor/therapist or Licensed Independent Social Worker. The ideal candidate will provide individual counseling to K-12 students and family therapy as needed. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and adolescents within a collaborative and unique educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual counseling sessions to students across K-12 grades, focusing on social and emotional issues.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to identify students needing support and develop appropriate action plans.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress. ? Participate in school meetings as needed and contribute to developing a positive school climate.
- Stay informed about the latest research and best practices in counseling and mental health.
- Independently manage billing for services provided or collaborate with the town-supported rural health clinic to facilitate billing processes.
Qualifications:
- Valid state licensure or certification as a counselor, social worker, or clinical psychologist. ? Able to bill independently or willing to bill for services through the Islesboro Health Center.
- Experience working with children and adolescents in a school setting is preferred. ? Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
