Special Education Teachers
Extended Summer School year - Special Education Teachers
Potential Dates are (some flexibility is possible with advance notice)
T, W, Th - July 8th to August 21st , Mornings Only-approximately 15 to 30 hours per week but variable based on student needs per individual plans and availability.
Special Education Teacher Pay is $40 an hour (includes planning and instructional time).
Position Purpose
To maximize the learning experience of students with special needs, in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities, outcomes; addressing students' specific needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
Preferred for “in-person” but willing to consider virtual services and programming.
Require Certification/License:
- State Certification as a Special Education Teacher. Maine DOE 286 or 282
Required Education:
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable.
Preferred Experience:
- Successful prior special education teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
- Experience with students with moderate and severe disabilities. ABA and positive behavior support training is required.
- Organizational skill and ability to lead a large team and work cooperatively with others.
Beginning in July, 2025, AOS 93 will serve the districts of South Bristol, Bristol, Jefferson, and Nobleboro in Mid-Coast Maine.
