The University of Maine System is accepting applications for a Finance Associate. The primary responsibilities of this position are to support the Chief Business Officer in the oversight of budgetary operations at the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI), including financial analysis and financial management. The Finance Associate will report to the Chief Business Officer. This position will coordinate with the UMPI department budget managers, as well as the University of Maine System staff in the Finance, Treasurer’s, Accounting, and Internal Audit offices. Occasional contact with external entities including vendors and the public.

The normal starting salary range for this position is $50,000-$62,000, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Knowledge and Skills Qualifications
Minimum:

  • Associates degree required with three or more years of relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with financial and budgeting analysis, reporting tools, and software used to analyze financial data.
  • Exceptional computer competency, including excellent Microsoft Office computer skills with fluency in Excel and demonstrated skills to acquire new software skills efficiently.
  • Demonstrated proficiency preparing financial reports using numeric, graphic, and narrative representations.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Ability to communicate information about financial matters, both verbally and in writing, to constituents with a variety of levels of understanding and experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of and familiarity with the University MaineStreet system.
  • Previous work experience in public higher education setting.
