Position Title: Special Education Case Manager - Early Childhood (PreK-1)
Location: Mitchell School
Reports To: Building Principal, Director of Special Services

Required Certification: 282B - Special Education and PreK endorsement

The Kittery School District is currently seeking a full time, passionate, and dedicated Early Childhood Special Education Teacher to join our team and serve students (approx. ages 3-8). The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to supporting young children with diverse learning needs and a desire to work collaboratively with families, therapists, and educators.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid teaching license in the appropriate grade level and content area (282B, 282)
- Knowledge of Special Education Part C and school based services
- Support identified Preschool aged children in the learning environment and provide specially designed instruction as outlined in the students’ IEP.
- Support the preschool team with identifying and addressing concerns related to Child Find and special education referrals and recommending appropriate MTSS
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for children with special needs and attend IEP meetings as scheduled.
- Create a warm, engaging, and supportive classroom environment that fosters learning and development.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educational technicians (ed-techs).
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with families and staff.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance skills and knowledge in early childhood special education.
- Strong understanding of special education state and federal regulations
- Experience in implementing research based teaching methodology based upon diagnostic needs assessment
You must be able to pass a background test through the State of Maine Education Department.
