Position Overview

RSU 18 is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Technology Support Specialist to support and maintain our fleet of iPads used by elementary teachers and students. This role will focus on managing and troubleshooting iPads, handling helpdesk tickets, and using JAMF Mobile Device Management (MDM) to ensure all devices are configured, secure, and functioning properly. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the seamless integration of technology in the classroom and supporting the district’s educational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

iPad Maintenance & Management

  • Oversee the setup, configuration, and maintenance of iPads for elementary teachers and students.
  • Perform hardware and software troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades on iPads to ensure smooth functionality.
  • Ensure that all iPads are fully operational, updated, and secured for use by teachers and students.

Device Management with JAMF

  • Administer and manage the district’s fleet of iPads using JAMF MDM, including device enrollment, configuration, and deployment.
  • Ensure devices are compliant with district policies, including security protocols and app management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve MDM-related issues and ensure all devices are kept up to date with software updates and security patches.

Helpdesk Support

  • Provide timely and professional helpdesk support for elementary teachers and students regarding iPad issues, app installations, and general technical assistance.
  • Manage, prioritize, and resolve helpdesk tickets in the district’s ticketing system, ensuring customer satisfaction and minimal disruption to classroom activities.

Technology Inventory & Reporting

  • Track and manage inventory for all iPads assigned to elementary classrooms and students.
  • Provide regular reports on device health, repair needs, and inventory levels to district leadership.
  • Assist in the ordering, storage, and distribution of new devices as needed.

Training & Support

  • Assist in training teachers and students on the proper use of iPads and educational apps.
  • Provide guidance on best practices for using iPads in the classroom to maximize educational outcomes.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with the IT team and educational staff to ensure technology needs are being met across the district.
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with iPads, Apple devices, or similar technology.
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical support skills, especially with iPads and educational apps.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced, school-based environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service to teachers, students, and staff.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with mobile device management systems, particularly JAMF
  • Experience working in an educational environment.
  • Familiarity with district-specific educational software and tools.
  • Previous experience with helpdesk ticketing systems or IT support.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to work in both classroom and office environments.

Additional Information: 

This is a full-time position with typical business hours, although occasional after-hours work may be required. The Technology Support Specialist will report to the Technology Director or other designated supervisor. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
