Position Description:
Cape Elizabeth School (ME) Department is seeking a full time, year-round computer user support specialist to chiefly support students and adult staff users and maintain district-owned technology in a network environment; respond to help desk system requests in-person, and via email and telephone; troubleshoot hardware and software problems; install software and hardware products and upgrades. Supporting students and staff, as well as Town of Cape Elizabeth employees will also be expected. Salary range is $24-26 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Knowledge of:
- Operating systems (MacOS, PC, Chrome, Unix)
- Principles and concepts of hardware and software installation
- Skill and ability to troubleshoot many situations logically
- Operation, installation, and configuration of computers, peripherals, and software applications in a stand-alone and multi-user environment
- Google Apps for Education and/or Google Suite
- Mobile device management software (JAMF preferred)
- Concepts of office practices, procedures, and equipment
- Great Customer Service (Adult and Students)
- Extensive knowledge of E-Mail, Internet, WAN, LAN, and other computer network programs and operations.
- Detail Orientated
- Extensive knowledge of computer hardware and software installation procedures.
- Knowledge of all school district/town personal computer and software applications.
- Understanding of current operating platforms, computer hardware and associated peripherals, and software applications.
- Analytical, problem-solving and creative-thinking skills with respect to computer-related issues.

- Install and maintain computer operating systems, application software, and related computer equipment.
- Perform computer and network hardware and software repair (computers, servers, switches, printers, scanners, and programs).
- Creates and maintains EMail and Internet accounts on computers; configures EMail and security on computers.
- Inspects computer and network equipment requiring specialized computer repair and troubleshooting for the purpose of identifying and verifying repair needs.
- Assesses malfunctions of hardware for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and network operations.
- Provides technical support to users of hardware and software.
- Maintains the school based computer labs in good working order.
- Trains selected individuals for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use computer systems and new or existing software.
- Coordinates computer and network-related repair requests.
- Assists in record-keeping regarding the functioning and inventory of the school district's computers and related equipment, repairs, etc.
- Assists in making recommendations regarding the purchase of new computers, software, and related equipment.
- Ability to inspect, assess, troubleshoot and repair computer network system, hardware and software.
- Travel between school/town locations

Education/Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent, plus three years experience as a Computer Support Specialist or similar position
- Eligible to hold a valid State of Maine Department of Education Criminal History Records Check Approval
- Eligible to to maintain a CJIS certification
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- High School diploma.
- Documented training in computer hardware, software and network use, troubleshooting and repair.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
- MDM experience preferred
- Google Administration preferred
- Computer networking experience preferred.
Significant successful related experience in computer and network installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
