Statement of the job: The University of Maine at Farmington seeks applicants to fill the position of Assistant Teacher, Infant Toddler (6-weeks to 18-months). This position is responsible for assisting the head teacher with the overall supervision and education of a group of infants in the 6-week to 18-month classroom. Performs activities that ensure the health, safety, involvement, and developmental progress of everyone in the group. Works with team teachers to plan, discuss and implement daily plans.

This is a full-time (40-hour work week), fiscal year position. The salary for this position is $40,000, with the possibility of an additional stipend by the American Rescue Act Stabilization Grant.

Qualifications:

Required Competencies

  • Communications - Excellent communication skills – oral and written. 
  • Planning, organizing, and prioritizing - Plan and organize work to manage time effectively and accomplish job duties.
  • Innovative thinking - The ability to use existing and emerging technology and tools to create new and innovative practices.
  • Adaptability - The ability to react positively and effectively to change. To be able to quickly learn and work effectively with the changing landscape of campus focus, administrators/leadership, and strategy in a changing environment.
  • Problem-solving and Decision-making - Observe and evaluate the outcomes of implementing the solution to assess the need for alternative approaches and to identify lessons learned.
  • Technology Utilization - Computer proficiency/knowledge; adept at learning and using software programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or a related field; or a Bachelor’s Degree with one (1) year of Early Childhood experience
  • Current First-Aid and CPR certification 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience
